New public access to make it easier to visit Esmeralda Beach

The Ministry of Tourism is investing RD$51 million to provide new public access to Esmeralda Beach in Miches, El Seibo province. The project is funded and carried out by the Ministry of Tourism’s Executing Committee for Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (Ceiztur).

Miches is north of the Punta Cana area and there is easy road access. The new access road to the large beach area will be 430 meters long. Previously, a four-wheel vehicle was needed to get to the beach area.

Vehicle parking is also contemplated in the project, and a military detachment with office space. Dominican Republic Navy and the Tourist Police (Politur) will ensure the area is kept clean and secure.

The project includes the construction of access to Esmeralda beach, bathrooms and changing rooms for beach visitors, the military detachment, and a parking area.

Tourism Minister David Collado said that Miches is the new tourist pole of the Dominican Republic. “When a community manages to unify the private and public sectors, without a doubt, what comes next is success,” he forecast in making the announcement of the new access.

He said that the new hotels being developed in the area by the Cisneros family, entrepreneurs Frank Elías Rainieri and Rafael “Papo” Blanco will create more than 1,500 jobs that will activate agriculture, small businesses and the entire community.

He said that there is a great opportunity for Miches to be the exemplary tourist destination of the Dominican Republic.
