The office of First Lady Raquel Arbaje, the Ministry of Education and the National Council for Children and Adolescents (Conani) will collaborate with the Hogar Escuela Nuevo Amanecer (Hena), a home for street children located in the municipality of San Antonio de Guerra, Santo Domingo province
In First Lady Raquel Arbaje’s words, the children and adolescents who enter Hena will have a roof, food, a clean bed and the possibility of attending elementary and secondary school. The children will be taught trades, will develop life skills and “receive something that is perhaps the most important of all: love and understanding.”
“Today we are taking another step on the road to recovering the future of boys and girls who, in their current conditions, have none. Thanks to this facility, they will walk from now on in a world that will be less hostile to them and will provide them with the protection to which they are entitled,” said the First Lady.
