Few people have the persistence of Stephanie Noesí, who migrated to the United States with her parents, finished high school, and graduated from Baruch College in New York City with a degree in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems. Four times she applied for an internship at Google, before she was accepted as one of the youngest and least experienced interns ever. After a year as an intern, she was hired full time as a financial analyst. She is now one of 28 Dominicans that work at the tech giant.
The Noesí family originates in a village called Marmolejos, nestled in the northern mountains between the also-barely-known towns of El Mamey and Guananico in the province of Puerto Plata. Her family had gone to Santo Domingo where they located in the barrio of Los Mameyes before migrating to the United States. Another win for the diaspora.
