
At one time, the Dominican Republic enjoyed massive areas of mangroves, but human activity has, over the centuries, drastically reduced these areas. Now, a unit of the state-run electricity consortium, the Dominican Electricity Transmission Company (ETED) has joined forces with Ministry of Environment to replant and restore mangroves along the coast of the province of San Cristobal. The entity located their efforts at the beach called Los Cuadritos within the Nigua Ecological Park.
