Starting Wednesday, 3 November 2021, American Airlines is flying tourists from Austin, Texas’s Bergstrom Interrnational (AUS) to Punta Cana International (PUJ), gateway to dozens of beach resorts. American has made available a B737-800 with capacity for 164 passengers for the flight. As reported, the Texas flight will feed important cities in central and western United States.
The flights are four times a week – Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. year. Introductory fares of around US$334 round trip, are available, much lower than the upwards of US$600 usually available for connecting through Miami to Dallas.
The Dominican Republic Tourism Office (OPT) in Orlando, Florida is promoting the flights together with leading resorts in the Punta Cana area. “The idea is to continue promoting the Dominican Republic as the leading destination in the region regarding the proximity of the high season,” said Raquel Reyes, director of the OPT of Orlando, FL. Participating in the promotion are Playa Resorts, Karisma Hotels & Resorts, Majestic Hotels & Resorts, Hodelpa Hotels, Mint Hotels & Residences, Ocean Resorts, Barceló Hotels & Resorts, Riu Resorts, Blue Diamond Resorts, among others.
