The Ministry of Defense clarified in a tweet that the landing of US helicopters in the province of Puerto Plata was carried out so that the crew could rest and refuel after a long flight. The Ministry of Defense described the stop as a technical one that was previously authorized.
The helicopters took off on Thursday, 4 November morning to continue their scheduled route. The Ministry did not give details on where the helicopters were headed, nor where they came from.
Listin Diario cites a source informing them that the helicopters left for Puerto Rico.
