President Abinader in San Cristóbal

President Luis Abinader was in San Cristóbal province for the traditional Constitution Day celebrations on Saturday, 6 November 2021. San Cristobal is where the first Dominican constitution was signed 177 years ago. Present for this activity was Constitutional Court president Milton Ray Guevara and the Constitutional Court judges.

President Abinader also held a government ministers council and inaugurated several public works in the southcentral province. The Abinader administration has works underway worth more than RD$1 billion in San Cristóbal.

The Presidency reported that among these works are roadworks for the 6 November Highway entrance into the city, the municipal landfill, the Cambita Garabito bridge and police station, the Parque del Carril, the conditioning of the Carril ballpark, the road that connects with the bypass road and the fence of the state university UASD campus and the UASD parking lot.

Also the construction of the first phase of the waste water treatment plant, the first phase of storm water drainage in the Moscú neighborhood, the first phase of the 6 de Noviembre highway intervention, the Cambita-Pueblecito multiple aqueduct, the Adán Sierra elementary school and the Najayo prison high school.

During the visit, the President announced San Cristobal will get its own medical city that will include a general hospital with dialysis unit, physical rehabilitation, imaging, laboratories and blood bank, trauma building, pediatric hospital, an imaging and diagnostic center, dental services area, a pharmacy, forensic pathology, cafeteria, security, general services, and parking lots.

The director general of EdeSur power distribution utility, Milton Morrison took advantage of the visit of the President to San Cristóbal to announce advances in illumination of San Cristóbal city and important roads in the province.

President Abinader attended the inauguration of the wastewater treatment plant in the Lavapies sector of San Cristóbal. The National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage (INAPA), Wellington Arnaud, said the investment in drinking water and sanitation projects exceeds RD$1.42 billion in the province of San Cristóbal.
