The National Institute of Technical Professional Training (Infotep) announced it will install a new vocational training center in Punta Cana, La Altagracia province, with the backing of the National Hotels and Tourism Association (Asonahores).
The “City of Knowledge” will be equipped with a management school and training programs to prepare staff for the more than 100 resorts and hotels in the Punta Cana area.
Rafael Santos Badía, director of Infotep announced the agreement signed with Rafael Blanco Tejera, president of Asonahores.
“This center will provide training in various areas of the sector, with high standards of quality and service, which translates into benefits for all those involved in the tourism industry,” explained Santos Badía. It is expected to be in operation by the end of 2022. Santos Badía said Infotep and Asonahores have been working together for years.
Santos Badía said that the Infotep training center for gastronomy and tourism located in Higuey, the capital of La Altagracia province, will be modernized. He announced the construction of an intelligent kitchen 4.0.
Santos Badía said an intelligent kitchen 4.0 will also be installed at the Infotep facility in Santiago de los Caballeros to train workers of the tourism industry in Santiago and northern provinces.
By signing the document, Infotep and Asonahores ratify their interest in continuing to join forces for the development and implementation of training programs aimed at strengthening the Asonahores membership. The agreement focuses on providing technical and managerial skills to improve the quality of services in the Dominican tourism sector.
The agreement calls for a joint review of Infotep’s programs and offerings in the area of hotel and restaurant management, with the purpose of designing and developing new ones, as well as updating existing ones.
The agreement also encompasses creating diversity in programs to meet the demand in the gastronomic area.
