Las Galeras is a beach destination at the most eastern tip of the northeastern province of Samana. It is a place where beach hopping should be on the agenda of visitors.
Indeed, many tourists take a boat trip to Las Galeras from Las Terrenas, on the western side of the peninsula.
The road to get there was not a problem. But now the Abinader administration announces it will improve the road. The Ministry of Public Works has contracted Malespin for the repaving of the 29 kms of the road between Samana city and Las Galeras. The Ministry of Public Works says they will be spending RD$400 million to improve the road.
Public Works Minister Deligne Ascención also announced that Samana is included in the National Asphalt Paving Plan and works will soon be underway for the paving of key streets , avenues and other roads in the province.
Ascención said the government has allocated RD$50 million for paving of main streets in Las Galeras and El Limón in Samana.
