With the sponsorship of the restaurant division (Aderes) of the National Hotel & Tourism Association (Asonahores), the restaurants of Santo Domingo are holding the fourth edition of SDQ Gastronomico from 16 to 21 November 2021. This is a time when city restaurants offer special meal plans and invite their patrons to try some of their best at promotional prices. The event seeks to continue to position Santo Domingo as a leading global culinary capital. The event was not held in 2020 because of the pandemic.
This year, 80 restaurants have signed on to participate in Restaurant Week. For RD$1,200 you get a full meal with lots of delicious surprises. The number of participants is 10 more than in the pre-pandemic year of 2019, demonstrating the enthusiasm of the Santo Domingo restaurant community.
The president of Aderes, the restaurant division of Asonahores, Omar Cepeda highlights Dominican restaurants became stronger, more efficient and more united after the challenge of the pandemic. “This is the time to reconnect with our patrons as the economy recovers and offer to the tourist the best of Dominican gastronomy,” said Omar Cepeda.
Restaurant Week brings Tapas Nights where customers can do a tasting of what the restaurant has to offer. The focus is also on local products and the creativity of the chefs delivers new options. Many of the most popular dishes can be incorporated into the restaurants regular menu.
