Andreina Martinez Founier, Miss Dominican Republic Universe 2021 has tested positive for Covid-19. The runner up of the contest, Debbie Aflalo Vargas, Miss Azua, will instead make the trip to Israel to represent the Dominican Republic in Miss Universe.
The 70th Miss Universe competition will be in Eilat, Israel on 12 December 2021. By coincidence, Aflalo Vargas, the Dominican representative in the contest, is a daughter of a native from Israel (Tel Aviv) who married a Dominican and made his home in Azua.
In an interview with Carlos Batista for Con los Famosos, before the Miss Dominican Republic contest, Aflalo said that her father had promised to take the whole family to Israel to root for her if she had won the local pageant.
Aflalo is a graduate of international relations and diplomacy who has dedicated herself so far to modeling.
The competition organizers say that Andreina Martinez is recovering but still has more days to complete her quarantine.
Martinez had recently participated in the whirlwind of activities before and after to be chosen the Dominican candidate in Miss Universe on 7 November 2021. Martinez represented the Dominican community in New York in the contest.
