Irregularities in school meal procurement

Diario Libre cites documentation of the National Institute of Student Welfare (Inabie) as evidence of irregular contracting for the school lunches in public schools nationwide. Several contractors that have been left out have brought the irregularities to the open. Inabie is a division of the Ministry of Education.

Diario Libre explains that the official document establishes that of 2,372 suppliers that were qualified to supply the public schools nationwide, only 1,112 had complied with the bidding terms and conditions. The Inabie favored with contracts more suppliers that did not qualify than those that did qualify.

From its start, the Ministry of Education under Minister Roberto Furcal has been constantly in the media for irregularities in contracting.
