
The Center for Export and Investment of the Dominican Republic (ProDominicana), presented the Dominican Republic Fashion catalog in Spain, to designers, manufacturers and personalities of the Spanish fashion industry. The launching took place within the framework of the Dominican fashion event held by the National Institute of Dominicans Abroad (INDEX)
Apparel, costume jewelry, jewelry and footwear made in the Dominican Republic were presented to Spanish buyers. The catalogue gives buyers access online to more than 70 exporters and potential exporters in the Dominican fashion industry.
Biviana Riveiro, executive director of ProDominicana, highlighted during the presentation that the catalogue is a tool for the internationalization of Dominican designers and clothing manufacturers.
Riveiro said that in the past five years, the Dominican Republic has exported US$5.02 billion in apparel, US$2.28 billion in jewelry and US$1.6 billion in footwear.
The presentation had the backing of Pablo Asencio, acting director of INDEXDOMRD; the consul of the Dominican Republic in Barcelona, César Méndez; and of Antonio Gómez and Ana Emilia Justo, commercial and cultural managers, representing ProDominicana. Also present were designers Giannina Azar, José Jhan, Martín Polanco, Merkis Díaz, Nina Vásquez and Stiffany Lerebours.
