Where to get a free influenza vaccine

It’s flu season and the Ministry of Public Health wants to reduce the spread and severity of the sickness now that it also has to deal with Covid. November to February is influenza season in the Dominican Republic

The Ministry of Public Health says 700 influenza vaccination centers are offering the dose for free. The vaccination centers are not the same as Covid-19 vaccination stations.

The vaccination centers are located in public pediatric hospitals, maternity centers and provincial hospitals. Several private medical centers and government centers have also opened influenza vaccination stations. The centers are open from 9am to 4pm.

The Ministry of Public Health says it has a stock of 450,000 influenza vaccines. The priority is to vaccinate those older than 65 years, those with vulnerabilities, pregnant women, and children six to 23 months old.

The vaccination is also available for pay at several hospitals, including Cedimat where the jab costs RD$2,600.
