The National Zoo in Santo Domingo announced on Saturday, 4 December 2021, the birth of a baby tiger (Panthera tigris tigris), son of Rayas and Bengali. The baby tiger is the grandson of the late Silver. Silver died in 2019 when he was 18 years old. He, too had been born in captivity at the Zoo.
The Zoo now is asking people to suggest “original” and “meaningful” names for the newborn grandchild of Silver.
The newborn is now the seventh tiger at the Zoo. Others are the two males (Tag and Rayas) and four females (Segua, Alba, Canela and Bengali).
