The recently completed audits carried out by the new members of the Chamber of Accounts presents additional evidence of corruption in dealings with the government against Alexis Medina Sánchez, the brother of former President Danilo Medina. The Chamber of Accounts has made available online the audits and these have been making headlines in the media. The evidence also involves other family members (including brother in laws and sisters) related to the former President Medina (2012-2016 and 2016-2020).
Alexis Medina Sanchez awaits the start of the court hearings to present formal charges against him for irregularities in contracting with the government during the Medina administration. The hearings are expected to begin this week. The first Operación Pulpo (Octopus Operation) corruption evidence was presented during the preventive custody hearings.
