President Laurentino Cortizo of Panama and President Carlos Alvarado of Costa Rica will meet with President Luis Abinader to discuss migratory issues on Friday, 10 and Saturday 11 December 2021. The Abinader administration is preparing a regional migratory summit to take place in Playa Dorada, Puerto Plata. This will be the third Assembly of the Alliance for Development in Democracy that groups the three Presidents. The first meeting was during the UN General Assembly in September 2021 in New York City. A second was in Panama in October 2021.
Administrative Minister of the Presidency Jose Ignacio Paliza said that key business people will also participate in the Playa Dorada summit to promote trade between the three countries.
Paliza said that President Abinader proposed that the third meeting take place in Puerto Plata to show off all the improvements of that northern coastal province. Paliza is a native of Puerto Plata and former senator for the province.
Paliza said that the presidents of Costa Rica and Panama are coming with their wives and there would be a separate agenda for the first ladies with a focus on the arts, culture and social actions.
