MSMEs demand annulment of school luncheon contest

Small businesses that lost hundreds of thousands due to the irregularities in the school lunchon allocations at the National Institute of Student Welfare (Inabie) are demanding more than the firing of the key officials at that agency under the Ministry of Education. The small business call for the annulling of Bid 0009. They also plan to sue in the Superior Administrative Court (TSA).

Hundreds of small businesses were affected by irregularities in contracting. The small businesses had made major investments to supply the school luncheons, won their bids, but then found themselves without the contract work. Others complain the rigging of the paperwork excluded them from the contest.

According to the suppliers, the bidding process altered the opening of bids to include 326 companies that did not submit bids through the Procurement Agency platform, while excluding 1,003 that did duly participate.

“The Act of Award and the signatures of the rigged contracts, besides being illegal, are immoral and unethical, as they are the result of corrupt operations and must be annulled,” reads a statement released by the conglomerate.

“We will continue in the Superior Administrative Court with the resources; we will sue in the ordinary justice and submit the complaints to international organizations, until we achieve new awards to benefit MSME bidders, whose proposals meet the requirements and are owners of a single kitchen throughout the national territory”, they point out.
