DR invites more tourists from Atlanta to visit

Tourism Minister David Collado was in Atlanta last week to promote travel to the Dominican Republic and sign new agreements. He presented on the country’s attractions to around 350 travel agents in the Atlanta market.

The United States is the leading source of visitors to the Dominican Republic and Collado expects an increase in travelers from the Atlanta market. In Atlanta, Collado met with tour operators, travel agencies and airlines with whom he signed cooperation agreements, the Ministry of Tourism reported in a press release.

Collado explained the tourism industry has been recovering steadily. He spoke proudly of how October 2021 had been a new record for all Octobers in numbers of visitors, with 443,018 non-resident arrivals. He explained to the travel agents and tour operators that the Dominican Republic is the only destination in the region where 100% of the tourism sector employees are vaccinated with two doses. The low rate of spread of Covid-19 in the country and its tourist zones makes the country a safe destination to travel.

He indicated that the Dominican Republic is an example of what to do in the pandemic given the statistics that evidence a fast recovery.
