Attorney General Miriam German Brito said this week that her office is short of funds. She had requested RD$2.10 billion more than the government initially had allotted the office in the 2022 National Budget. German Brito has been active lobbying for the additional funding. She says her office needs at least RD$10.5 billion to carry out the planned actions to prosecute crime and corruption in government.
Budget director Jose Rijo was prompt to say the extra funds have already been assigned. He said that the funds were added in the complementary budget under study by a Senate and Chamber of Deputies joint committee.
