President Luis Abinader used the platform of the American Chamber of Commerce luncheon to offer guarantees that the Attorney General’s Office will receive the necessary resources to carry out its work. Earlier in the week, Attorney General Miriam German Brito had spoken in an American Chamber of Commerce event on the need for RD$2.5 billion more in resources.
President Abinader once again highlighted the importance of an independent prosecution to the American Chamber of Commerce audience.
Abinader promised the Public Ministry will not lack the resources it needs to carry out its institutional strengthening and criminal prosecution actions.
Abinader also insisted on the amendment of the 2015 Constitution to guarantee the independence of the Public Prosecutors Office. He said there are several international schemes used in Latin America from which the country could choose the most appropriate one.
