
President Luis Abinader and First Lady Raquel Arbaje are hosting the heads of state of Costa Rica and Panama and their wives for a two-day summit (10-11 December 2021) in Playa Dorada, Puerto Plata.
The heads of state have grouped as the Alliance for Development in Democracy that has tackled the regional impact of the Haitian security, political, social and economic crisis and Central American democracy issues.
In September, a first meeting took place in New York during the United Nations General Assembly, and a second in Panama in October.
The presidents of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado Quezada, and Panama, Laurentino Cortizo Cohén and their wives are scheduled to arrive to the Gregorio Luperón International Airport in Puerto Plata at 7:30pm on Friday, 10 December. This evening, President Abinader will host a dinner in honor of the statesmen and their entourage, including business representatives.
The next day, on Saturday, 11 December, the Presidents will meet for a private breakfast. Later, from 10:30 to 11:30am, Abinader, Cortizo and Alvarado will meet with their foreign ministers. Then, from 11:45am to 1:15pm, they will receive a businesspeople report on trade and economic matters.
President Luis Abinader and First Lady Raquel Arbaje will host lunch for the visitors between 1:30 and 3:30pm.
The signing of the joint declaration will be at 3:45pm, with the official photo and press statement scheduled for 4:15 and 5:00pm.
Presidents Cortizo and Alvarado are scheduled to leave at 5:30pm on the same Saturday.
Last September 2021, the three leaders signed a statement expressing concern about the crisis in Haiti and on October 20, issued a joint statement calling for action by the international community.
