On Monday, 13 December 2021, the Senate of the Republic approved in two consecutive readings the National Budget Bill for 2022. On the previous Thursday, the Chamber of Deputies had approved the bill for RD$1,155,565,301,650. The total includes authorization for the government to borrow RD$109 billion and a deficit of RD$174 billion, or around 3%. The bill now moves to the Presidency for enactment.
