Download the Ministry of Public Works road app

Those traveling on Dominican main roads have the backing of the Ministry of Public Works road patrols, in addition to 911 Emergency Service. On Tuesday, 14 December 2021, the Ministry presented its Asistencia Vial MOPC App.

Public Works Minister Deligne Ascención and the general director of the Military and Police Commission (Comipol), Brigadier General Rafael Vásquez Espínola emphasized that the initiative aims to make it easier for users to access the road assistance service when traveling on main roads.

Jacobo Mateo Jr., in charge of Comipol’s networks, said that the reduction in call handling time for road assistance will be three minutes, with a tendency to reduce it to two minutes.

The APP needs to be downloaded through Apple APP Store or Google Play. After opening the application, the user registers as new, with ID number and phone number, and then can immediately use the App to report accidents and request road assistance.

Public Works Minister Ascención emphasized that 20 vans were recently added to the 243 patrol units that cover the 3,200 kilometers of main highways. With this application, the response time will be considerably reduced when a driver requires the road assistance service on one of the main roads.

In addition to this application, the Asistencia Vial telephone number is 829-688-1000 and will continue to be available 7 days a week and 24 hours a day.

From the start of the new government in August 2020 to November 2021, 415,293 assistance services have been provided to those traveling on the main roads, benefiting more than 1.6 million people. Of this amount, 167,990 were assistance for mechanical failures; 117,534 for tire problems; 52,665 for safety; 43,453 for lack of fuel; 11,171 for accidents; 8,935 assistance with mobile workshops; 7,610 for towing services; 5,821 for ambulance requests, and 114 for the use of rescue and extrication units.
