26-year old Veronica Estrella Marchi was on her practice flight as a flight attendant. She was halfway through a four-month course at the Civil Aviation Board (JAC) to get her license. It was the second time she took the course. Estrella Marchi had both Italian and Dominican citizenship.
She was on the Helidosa Aviation 14-minute flight that ended up in a fatal crash when it force landed in the green area of the Las Americas International Airport. The Gulfstream jet was carrying a Puerto Rican family to Orlando, Florida.
Estrella had just recently two days before quit her job in the events and protocol department at the Ministry of Environment. Minister of Environment Orlando Jorge Mera shared photos of her taken the week before during a Ministry of Environment activity in Montecristi.
Estrella is the daughter of Silvino Estrella, a nephew of Eduardo Estrella, president of the Senate.
