
The Minister of Environment Orlando Jorge Mera says he is coordinating the setting up of a work table to gather government institutions that have to do with controlling noise. He responded to complaints carried by Diario Libre, the leading free newspaper.
Diario Libre has been campaigning for better government response to individuals and businesses that blast music and noise at high levels, mainly in the cities.
The newspaper carried an editorial on 20 December 2021 making the point that government institutions that have divisions to deal with the situations throw the ball to each other and do not get to the task. The editorial comments that no one in government seems to want to be “the bad guy”.
