
President Luis Abinader launched on Monday, 20 December 2021 the “Súper Emprendedoras” program. The Super Women Entrepreneurs program has funds available at 1% interest rate to lend by small businesses run by women. The President said the program will reach out to more than 10,000 women. The small business can access up to RD$50,000 in the loans. The government expects to create 20,000 new jobs. The program has the backing of the Andalusian Agency of International Cooperation for Development.
President Abinader said that some 1,131 women have been pre-selected to receive RD$48.4 million in loans. Of these, 68% are owners of stores, 23% are in the services and 11% in manufacturing.
“The initiative aims to reduce the feminization of poverty, promote education and financial inclusion of the participants and boost the business initiatives of the participants,” said the head of state.
