National District Mayor Carolina Mejía spoke of her plans to expand the Santo Domingo Malecón, with an investment of RD$200 million set for 2022. The expansion would be from the Ministry of Foreign Relations to the Núñez de Cáceres avenue.
The Mayor said that the Paseo de la Lectura and Paseo de la Musica are phases two and three of the Paseo de la Duarte (Av. Duarte at the Paris Street intersection) that is almost completely finished. The renovation of this area would extend from Av. José Martí to Calle Josefa Brea. These works are expected to be completed by 2024.
The city government also has plans to improve the environs of the Plazoleta de La Trinitaria.
There will also be road improvements in the environs of the Botanical Gardens. The mayor explained the Parque Vial Los Proceres encompasses all the exterior of the Botanical Gardens, except for Avenida Colombia.
