Ministry of Environment firefighters spent the New Year holidays struggling to put out three fires in the Sierra Bahoruco National Park. The Ministry of Environment says that one of the fires was caused by cattle ranchers. The fires have affected around 15 square kilometers. Environment Minister Orlando Jorge Mera is optimistic the fires will be put out late this week.
