
Public schools are open and gradually students and teachers are returning to normalcy under pandemic conditions. The Ministry of Education says a majority of public schools held in-person classes on Monday, 17 January 2022. The union of public school teachers has been boycotting face-to-face classes.
A press release from the Ministry says that “most” of the schools taught in-person this Monday. The press release says that in both the morning and afternoon shifts, teachers of all levels and modalities received students and worked with normalcy.
“Educational processes are normalized throughout the country, and this was seen this Monday in centers of the 122 educational districts and the 18 regional education districts,” said Education Minister Roberto Fulcar, through the press release.
The Education Minister Roberto Furcal supervised the restart of classes with a tour of educational centers in La Romana and Miches, El Seibo.
He said that the Ministry of Education guarantees the children’s right to a quality education with all the equipment, materials and biosecurity guidelines so that they remain healthy.
Several past presidents of the Dominican Association of Public School Teachers met yesterday and recommended the continuing of in-person learning, as reported in Diario Libre.
