A sister of Santa Arias protested not being allowed to speak with the abuse victim. Arias was taken to a battered women home where she has been kept after receiving threat calls and offers of cash so that she desist from the accusations. Arias’ sister also complained about the alleged privileges the victimizer has received, while their relative is kept in insolation, as reported on Noticias SIN.
“It is assumed that my sister was the one who was assaulted and she should not be the one in jail and this gentleman, “el león” (the lion) as they call him, has all the privileges where he is while she [Santa Arias] does not even have communication with us, her relatives and it should not be like that,” the sister of Santa Arias complained to the press.
She said that since 1 January, when Santa Arias was taken to a foster home by order of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in order to protect her physical integrity, her family has not had any type of communication with her.
The sister made the comments when speaking to the press on Monday, 17 January 2022 when Alen Alexis Villalona was taken to court for the arraignment. The arraignment was postponed for 20 January 2022 to give the defense lawyers more time to study the proofs presented by the state prosecutors. The legal defense also wants a change in the court that is hearing the accusations. The prosecutors had said they would seek a year preventive custody.
On the other hand, the relatives of Villalona had praise for the treatment their relative had received.
El Nuevo Diario reported that Alen Alexis Villalona is a 46 year old who is known as a money lender in Bani. He has two children, a 20 year old daughter and a 22 year old son.
He set up the money lending business after returning from the United States where he lived for five years, a source told El Nuevo Diario.
He is now under arrest after brutally beating Arias who at around 1am was driving on a small bike on a street in Baní and crashed into his vehicle. The violent actions seem to indicate the man has has a serious problem of rage management.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior & Police announced a life ban on the use of firearms for Alen Alexis Villalona. He had threatened the woman with the firearm in hand, discouraging other vehicle drivers to stop to assist her during the incident. Resolution MIP-CLAF-0001-2022, orders the seizing of the pistol carried during the incident, a Bersa brand, 9mm caliber, serial 555241.
