The DR1 News digest will not be published on Friday, 21 January and Monday, 24 January on occasion of the Our Lady of High Grace and Juan Pablo Duarte holidays.
According to the Roman Catholic Church, the Virgen de la Altagracia is the protector of the Dominican people. Juan Pablo Duarte is the forefather of the Dominican nation. Ministry of Labor moved Duarte Day to Monday creating the very long weekend from 21 to 24 January 2022. Altagracia Day is celebrated on 21 January and Duarte Day actually falls on 26 January.
The Center for Emergency Operations (COE) has announced a nationwide safe holidays operation starting on Thursday, 20 January 2022. An estimated 5,000 volunteers are working on the Operativo Altagraciano.
