The National Committee of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) unanimously approved new by-laws for the ruling political organization.
During the assembly held at the Volleyball Pavilion of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, President Luis Abinader spoke of the irreversible changes in areas of government, with an emphasis on the fight against corruption.
“We need to continue providing real solutions to the country’s problems, thanks to the actions of a government with a human face, with the capacity to generate certainty among the various national productive sectors, confidence and security for foreign investments,” he said.
He said that the PRM is the organization that represents hope, the solution to the problems of the people.
“We are your party and we cannot let you down. We have come far, compañeros and compañeras, but we can go even further if we set our minds to it and push for it. Let’s conquer the streets and keep pushing to change this country,” he stated.
President Abinader was accompanied by First Lady Raquel Arbaje, Vice President Raquel Peña, former President Hipólito Mejía, the president of the PRM, Administrative Minister José Ignacio Paliza, and National District Mayor and secretary general of the PRM, Carolina Mejía.
During the event, the delegates ratified the change of the statutes to authorize Abinader to be the PRM presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.
