The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) has placed 15 provinces under weather alerts for the next 48 hours. The weather office forecasts downpours and possible thundershowers over the north, northeast, southeast and Central Mountain Range regions.
Onamet alerts people in the provinces of Monte Cristi, Puerto Plata, Espaillat, Santo Domingo and Valverde under a yellow weather of heavy rains and flooding.
The provinces of Samaná, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, Duarte, Sánchez Ramírez, María Trinidad Sánchez, La Vega, Hermanas Mirabal, Monseñor Nouel and Monte Plata are under green alert with possible flash flooding of rivers, streams and creeks, landslides and urban flooding.
