
The Ministry of Public Health announces that as of 7 February 2022 it will be opening vaccination stations in schools nationwide. The centers are for vaccinating children 5 to 12 years of age. The effort is coordinated with the Ministry of Education.
Deputy Minister of Collective Health, Dr. Eladio Pérez says the plan is to inoculate upwards of one million children from 5 to 11 years old. The vaccinations are voluntary and require the informed consent of the parents.
The Ministry of Public Health had already mandated that children 12+ be vaccinated in time to attend in-person classes that reopened nationwide in September 2021.
Students and school personnel is instructed to wear masks at all times, avoiding greetings with physical contact. The directors of each center are responsible for ensuring compliance with biosecurity strategies to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
