
The Abinader Administration issued Decree 46-22 that formalizes the Tourism Cabinet. Decree 46-22 is a follow-up to Decree 498-20 that established the modality of cabinets to back the efforts of government ministries in key sectors. Since its conception at the start of the Abinader government, the Tourism Cabinet has been presided by President Luis Abinader and is coordinated by Tourism Minister David Collado.
Decree 46-22 issued on 4 February 2022 establishes that the mission of the Tourism Cabinet is to design and propose public policies related to the tourism sector to stimulate its development and ensure its strengthening. The cabinet will establish the actions for the implementation of its members. It will also enact a communication strategy. The Tourism Cabinet will promote the participation of the private sector in the making, coordination and implementation of the public policies.
The members of the Tourism Cabinet are:
The President of the Republic, its president; Tourism Minister, its general coordinator; Minister of Public Health; Minister of Defense; Minister of Foreign Relations. Also, the commander general of the Navy; director of the National Police; president of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD). The director of the Center for Export and Investment (Pro Dominicana), director of the Customs Agency (DGA), director of the Specialized Airport Security Agency (CESAC), president of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), president of the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC), Airport Department director; director of Tourism Police (Politur). The ministers and directors of the government entities can delegate their participation.
The Tourism Cabinet will have monthly meetings and will also meet when convened by the Minister of Tourism.
