President Luis Abinader has confirmed he will attend the inauguration of President-elect of Chile 35-year old Gabriel Boric. The inauguration is scheduled for 11 March 2022 in Santiago de Chile.

In response to a letter addressed to Chile President Sebastián Piñera Echenique, President Abinader confirmed his attendance. “I thank you for the recognition and the kind distinction you have had in cordially inviting me to attend the activities of the Presidential Transfer of Command, and at the same time I confirm my attendance to such a great event, where the Presidency of the Republic of Chile will be handed over to His Excellency Mr. Gabriel Boric Font, President Elect of that nation,” reads the letter.

Likewise, the President reiterated feelings of high consideration and esteem to his Chilean counterpart.

The Chilean inaugural is a trending topic. Presidential inaugurals are an important meeting place. As reported, Spain will be represented by the King and Queen of Spain, and the Minister of Foreign Relations, but other high-ranking Spanish government officers want to join the delegation. Brazil President Jair Bolsanaro has said he will not attend. US Vice President Kamala Harris is likely to attend.
