Not to be missed is the Jose Cestero retrospective now open at the Museum of Modern Art through March. The event is curated by Mildred Canahuate and features around 120 of the works the prolific 84-year old Dominican artist lent by collectors around the country. Cestero was the winner of the National Plastics Arts Award in 2015.
The Cestero art is on exhibit in the basement and first floor of the MAM. There is also an outstanding exhibition by painter and sculptor Amaya Salazar on the third floor of the MAM that is located in Plaza de la Cultura, on Av. Máximo Gómez, Santo Domingo.
