The Ministry of Hacienda has decided to regularize the more than 100,000 illegal betting shops nationwide. The gaming businesses have sprung up at every corner. Now, instead of shutting down the businesses, the government has decided to get these to pay taxes. The gaming businesses have privileged taxation schemes despite operating against the collective good.
This week, the Ministry of Hacienda issued Resolution 061-2022 that establishes the guidelines for the regularization of the illegal gaming businesses. The resolution names Teófilo (Quico) Tabar, who is the director of the National Lottery, in charge of applying the new guidelines for the regularization of the businesses.
