Sugar industry worker wages increased

The Ministry of Labor announces a new minimum wage increase for sugar cane industry workers.

Labor Minister Luis Miguel De Camps García explained that the salary for sugar industry workers is divided into two groups: those in the fields and the administrative and manufacturing workers.

The minimum wage for the field workers went from RD$198.23 per day to RD$400 per day, up 101.8%.

The minimum wage for employees in factory and administrative areas was RD$7,663 per month and is increased to RD$15,000, up 97%.

The increase is retroactive to January 2022.
