Pro Dominicana (CEI-RD) represented the Dominican Republic at the Gulfood International Exhibition held at the Dubai World Trade Center in the United Arab Emirates from 13 to 17 February 2022. The fair is described as the world’s largest annual food events, serving one of the fastest-growing sectors. In a market valued at more than US$5 trillion globally, the business opportunities are vast and the stakes are high.
The export and investment promotion agency coordinated the participation of a group of businesspeople including casava makers, chocolate, coffee, honey and cigar producers, among others.
Biviana Reveiro, the head of the CEI-RD, stressed the opportunities the fair opens to doing business with the United Arab Emirates.
The Dominican Republic has done a little over US$125 million worth of business over the past six years, with a favorable trade balance.
