President Luis Abinader will deliver the annual public accountability speech on Sunday, 27 February 2022. This is the most important annual address by the President. President Luis Abinader is the most communicative President the country has had. He frequently takes time from his busy schedule to personally announce new projects and address the issues. He has assumed the role of spokesperson for his government.
President Abinader will speak from the platform of the National Congress at a time when the country is still under the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, now aggravated by the Russia-Ukraine geopolitical crisis that impacts the economy. The higher costs of fuel have resulted in a spiral of inflation that has reached a decades-high rate of 8.7% for January 2022. This at a time when the economy is showing strong recovery, and the tourism sector has sprung back despite the international challenges.
Diario Libre reports 500 national and foreign guests have been invited to the rendition. As reported, 10 robotic video cameras and state-of-the-art microphones and other equipment have been rented and installed to improve the quality of the transmission. The Dominican Constitution calls for the head of state to deposit before the National Congress on 27 February of each year the ministries’ reports and render an account of the administration of the previous year.
