The United States Agency for International Development through the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (USAID BHA) and World Vision Dominican Republic will invest US$1,140,000 in a plan to strengthen national and local capacities for emergency and disaster preparedness. The effort is coordinated with the Center for Emergency Operations (COE), the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Public Health, municipalities, and the El Seibo Governor’s Office.

The primary purpose of this plan is to improve the mitigation capacity regarding hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, among other disasters, as part of the “Disaster Risk Reduction Policy and Practice (DRRPP).”

The national system for the protection of children will be strengthened, including access to inclusive and quality education in the prioritized locations of El Seibo, Miches, San Cristobal and Bajos de Haina.

World Vision is working with the Dominican government, municipalities, community leaders and churches.
