Government commits to build Samana city dock and improve Sanchez port

The director of the Dominican Port Authority, Jean Luis Rodríguez, announced the renovation of the Samaná city dock at the cost of RD$76 million and the construction of the tourist port in Sánchez, a RD$62 million investment to allow for the arrival of larger tourist vessels. Likewise RD$14 million would be invested to improve the Samaná wharf. He said the projects would begin in March 2022 since the works have already been tendered, awarded and approved. He made the remarks on the “Show del Mediodia” produced by Iván Ruiz on Channel 9, Color Vision.

Rodríguez said the improvement of the Cayo Levantado port in Samaná for handling cruise ship travelers is up to a private company that has the concession for this port yet has not begun the renovation project.
