
According to the National Survey of Economic Activities (ENAE), the Dominican mining and quarry sector earned about US$1.0 billion in 2020 (RD$52.2 billion, up from RD$43.5 billion in 2019). The report, prepared for the National Statistics Office (ONE), shows the sector earning 20% more than in previous years, with income very close to RD$113 billion. The pandemic did not harm earnings but did reduce payroll contributions to government agencies, because employment in the sector fell by over 3%.
