Team Dominican Republic advanced in the Davis Cup Group II by defeating Vietnam 3-0 in the playoffs on Saturday, 5 March 2022 at the Mirador del Este tennis court in eastern Santo Domingo.
Team Vietnam was no piece of cake for the young Dominican team. On Saturday, 5 March the doubles duo of Nick Hardt and Peter Bertran defeated the Vietnamese duo Le Quoc-Khanh and Ly Nam Hoang 2-1. In a challenging set that lasted more than an hour, the Dominicans came from behind after losing the first set 7-6 (9-7) in a tie-break.
In the game on Friday, 4 March, Nick Hardt and Roberto Cid had won in the singles matches against the Vietnamese Trinh Linh Giang and Ly Hoang Nam, respectively.
The Dominican Republic is ranked 48th in the world in the Davis Cup.
