TUI travel operator arranged for around 300 Ukrainians who were staying at Casa Marina hotel in Sosua, Puerto Plata on the north coast to travel to Santo Domingo on the south coast to take a humanitarian flight from Las Americas International to Warsaw, Poland. The flight was scheduled to depart at 11:30pm on 9 March 2022. The Ukrainian tourists were staying at the Casa Marina hotel in Puerto Plata after they found themselves without their return flight out of Punta Cana on the east coast. They had come to vacation at a Punta Cana resort.
