
The US State Department issued on 14 March 2022 an upgrading of the travel recommendations for the Dominican Republic. The US government removed the DR from Level 4: Do Not Travel (red) to Level 3: Reconsider Travel (orange). The next level is Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution. And then Level 1: Exercise Normal Precautions.
The US Embassy announced on 14 March 2022 that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 3 Travel Health Notice for the Dominican Republic, indicating a high level of Covid-19 in the country.
“Your risk of contracting Covid-19 and developing severe symptoms may be lower if you are fully vaccinated with an FDA authorized vaccine. The US is the main source of travel to the Dominican Republic. Travel since September 2021 has been setting new records, with most travelers coming from the United States.
The risk of catching Covid-19 is down to the start of the pandemic times in the Dominican Republic. The 13 March epidemiological bulletin indicates there were but 57 cases, and positivity is around 1.58% nationwide.
