Dominican ambassador Hans Dannenberg Castellanos became the first Dominican ambassador to present credentials to President Sadyr Japarov of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia. The DR has had diplomatic relations with Kyrgyzstan since 30 June 2011. Dannenberg Castellanos is also the Dominican ambassador to Russia.
Kyrgyzstan has borders with Kazakhstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the west, Tajikistan to the southwest and China to the east.
During the presentation of credentials, the President of Kyrgyzstan highlighted that Central Asia has become an important source of tourists for the Dominican Republic in recent years and he wants to work to foster this flow and develop trade, bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Dannenberg Castellanos presented credentials together with ambassadors from 21 other countries, including Albania, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Canada, Estonia, Ethiopia, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Mauritania, Mexico, Norway, North Macedonia, Romania, Spain, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and Yemen, among others.
