
The Dominican Republic has improved its standing in the annual United Nations World Happiness Report. In the 2022 report, the country is listed in the 69th spot, which is up four spots from its placement in the 2021 report.
In previous reports, the DR has ranked as low as 77th and as high as 68th (2019). Finland made the top position for the fifth straight year and Afghanistan is at the bottom. In the Americas, Jamaica and Colombia are just above the Dominican Republic and Paraguay and Ecuador are just below.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the World Happiness Report which uses global survey data to report how people evaluate their own lives in more than 150 countries worldwide. The report gathers data on everything from the GDP, levels of corruption, and measurements of the people’s sense of freedom.
